What are Vocational Rehabilitation Services?
Vocational Rehabilitation is a process which enables persons with functional, psychological, developmental, cognitive, and emotional disabilities, impairments or health disabilities to overcome barriers and obtain or maintain employment through counseling and guidance, training, job placement, and services to support job retention. Vocational rehabilitation services include but are not limited to:
- Medical and Psychological Assessments
- Vocational Evaluation and Planning
- Career Counseling and Guidance
- Work Experience while in High School
- Training and Education after High School
- Job-Site Assessment and Accommodations
- Job Coaching and Placement
- On-the-Job Training
- Supported Employment
- Assistive Technology and Devices
Our Vocational Rehabilitation services currently impact communities in a total of five regions covering two states (Louisiana and Texas).
Who Do We Serve?
Our largest Vocational Rehabilitation clients are Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) assists people with disabilities in their desire to obtain or maintain employment and/or achieve independence in their communities. Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) assists people with disabilities in their desire to obtain or maintain employment and/or achieve independence in their communities. This is achieved by providing rehabilitation services and working cooperatively with business and other community resources. Opportunity Now is a Community Resource Provider (CRP).
Under LRS and TWC, Opportunity Now works with individuals who have certain barriers such as a physical or mental disability (including alcoholism and substance abuse) to help them become self-sufficient and find adequate employment. Our job is to advocate on their behalf. Opportunity Now understands that each person is not limited by their disability, nor their classification.
No two people are alike, and the same strategy does not work for everyone. It is not our job to “fix” them, but to meet them where they are, and to provide them with beneficial tools, knowledge, and support to help prepare them for where they are trying to go!
LRS is the largest Vocational Rehabilitation client that Adult Services provides service to.
The Services We Provide
Opportunity Now currently provides general Vocational Rehabilitation services to several regions throughout the states of Louisiana and Texas. This includes both Adult VR Services, as well as student employment services, intensive case management, support, comprehensive training, career exploration, job placement, on the job coaching, and extended follow-up services through our LRS Vocational Rehabilitation program category.

- Region 2: (Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Washington, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana)
- Region 4: (Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Vermilion)
- Region 5: (Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union, West Carroll Parishes)
Texas:
