Darla Jackson
Darla Jackson has progressed tremendously since beginning with our Opportunity Now Vocational Rehabilitation Program in January 2020. Her intellectual and behavioral disabilities were barriers which Darla and her job coach were determined to break through.
Her use of repetitive mannerisms and statements made it difficult for others to see Darla’s potential. She needed help and she put in the work! Darla arrives at every meeting early. She was motivated and dedicated to improving her skills during job development sessions. As a matter of fact, she treats these sessions like they were a real job. For several months, her job coach, Victoria, has guided Darla through skills training. They work on etiquette, interview skills, making good first impressions, time management, responsibility, healthy communication and work relationships.
No longer a distraction…Darla is a proud and dedicated custodial employee of Platinum Cleaning. She still receives our services and continues to learn new ways to improve her life. She is a shining example that hard work pays off – when you seize the opportunity!
