Shiquita Success
In 2017 Shiquita move to Laplace, Louisiana after losing both her parents and having no place to go. Shortly after moving here, Shiquita was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. She began to experience hallucination and started hearing voices, which encouraged her to engaged in violent behavior. As a result of her behaviors, Shiquita was arrested for fighting in 2017.
Overtime, Shaquita’s grandparents got her the help she needed through mental health treatment. After going through extensive treatment and reaching a point of stability, she was ready to change her life and become self-sufficient. Shaquita turned to Opportunity Now to assist her, within a week’s time Shaquita was placed at Matherne’s and is enjoying her job and her new independence.
